William Hayes Obituary

William J. Hayes, age 65, of Milton passed away March 19th after a courageous battle with cancer at the VA Hospital in W. Roxbury.  Born in Long Beach, CA, he was raised in Dorchester and attended Dorchester High School.  He went on to attend University of Hawaii and graduated from Fisher Junior College.  Bill was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era where he was a member of the Military Police.  He worked as an Auto Mechanic for many years before retiring.  Bill was an outdoor enthusiast and immensely enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and camping. He was a longtime seasonal camper at the Friendly Beaver Campgrounds in New Boston, N.H.  Bill’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable.   His devotion to his children, wife and grandchildren was obvious to all who had the pleasure to know him.   

Beloved husband of Debra L. (DeWitt).  Father of Justin W. Hayes of Milton, Jeremy A. Hayes and his companion Jillian Foley of Attleboro, and Jillian R. Saccoccio and her husband Steven of Brookline, NH.  Loving Papa of Ayla Hayes, Hadley Saccoccio and baby girl Saccoccio expected in July.  Brother of Patricia Hayes of Rockland, Thomas Hayes and his wife Theresa of N.H., Nancy Clapp and her late husband Roger, Robin Howland of Quincy, Robert Hayes and his wife Annmarie of NY, James Hayes and his late wife Mary Ann of Whitman, Valerie Romero of Hull, Mary Yarosh and her husband John of Weymouth, and the late Linda Waszkiewicz and her husband Peter of Wrentham, and Ethel Ramonas and her late husband Roy.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.   Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave, Milton Wednesday from 4-7 pm.   Funeral service at the funeral home Thursday morning at 11:00. Burial Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Thursday at 1:30 pm.
