William Leonard, Greene, age 82 of Braintree, passed away surrounded by his family on August 25. He leaves his loving wife, Patricia (Dilorati), his beloved sons Timothy (Darcy) of Norwell, and Daniel (Beth) of South Boston. Beloved Papa to Douglas, Julia, Marguerite, Joseph and Michael and special Uncle to Olivia. He also leaves his brother, Paul (Gayle) of Bonita Springs, FL, his sister Marie Lawton (Richard) of Winthrop, his brother-in-law Daniel Dilorati (Joan) of Braintree and his sister-in-law Claire Coyne of South Boston. In addition, Billy leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy was a son of South Boston, born at home and a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School.
Billy was a proud member of IBEW Local 103 for 64 years. He was most recently employed by Fishbach and Moore for the last 25 years. Billy also enjoyed numerous friend groups that lasted decades, including the N and 6th Club and the Lithuanian Club both of South Boston and the Alley Cats in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea where he spent his winters.
Billy took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports, his daily cigar, a really good bargain, any song by AC/DC or George Thorogood, spending time on his boat, “Gangreene”, and many memorable trips with his family. Billy was a wonderful man, husband, father and friend and a joy to be around.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Billy’s life during visiting hours on Tuesday, August 30, from 4-7pm at the Thomas Funeral home in Milton. Donations in Billy’s name can be made to Old Colony Hospice. As Billy said, “Southie’s #1 and beat Eastie”.
