Thomas Brendan Walsh, suddenly at home June 17th, in Westerly, Rhode Island, formerly of Milton and Nantucket, MA. Loving father of Elizabeth (Lily) of Wilton, CT and Nora, of Westport, CT. Beloved son of Sarah (Sally) Walsh of Raleigh, North Carolina  and the late John T. Walsh Jr.  Dear brother of Sheila M. and Eileen Walsh Dowd and her husband Paul, all of Raleigh. Brother of the late John T. Walsh III.

Tommy grew up in Milton and attended Saint Mary of the Hills School, Boston College High School and Suffolk University.  He worked as a legislative aide to the Massachusetts Speaker of the House for several years. Having spent all his summers at the family cottage at Nantasket Beach, his love of the water took him to Nantucket where he established his company, T. Walsh Building, which won the prestigious annual “Best Builder on Nantucket” award three times. He spent many happy years on the island. A master craftsman at his work, he relaxed out on his boat and developed a love of fishing in his spare time. In later years, he returned to Milton, where he coached Milton Youth Hockey and was an avid lifelong Bruins fan. 

He loved his family fiercely, and his daughters were his pride and joy. He lived by the motto “To thine own self be true,” and will be remembered for his deep intelligence, Irish wit, and strong faith by all who knew and loved him. 

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Tuesday June 24 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Milton Wednesday morning June 25 at 10:00.  Burial Milton Cemetery.
