Thomas J. Richardson

November 13, 1945 ~ July 8, 2022 (age 76)


Thomas John Richardson passed away at home on July 8, 2022, at the age of 76, after a long battle with cancer. Born and raised in Dorchester, he attended St. Matthew’s, Woodrow Wilson, Boston Technical High School and graduated from Boston State.  Tom was a veteran of the US Coast Guard.  He worked for 33 years as a Boston Police officer, and in retirement, joined the Emerson College Police Department for 15 years.

Tom was an avid reader, enjoyed walking and loved the Boston Red Sox. One of his favorite hobbies was traveling to his granddaughter’s basketball games and spending time with his family.  He was private, hardworking, and loyal.  

Tom was the loving and devoted husband of Margo (Forde) Richardson.  He was the loving father to Kevin Richardson and his wife Jen of Canton, GA, Danielle Toland of Quincy, MA, and Ryan Richardson of Milton, MA.  Tom was the proud and adoring grandfather to John and Chloe Richardson of Canton, GA and Abigail, Molly and Paige Toland of Quincy.  He was predeceased by his parents, James B Richardson, Geraldine (Carey) Richardson and his brother, James (Jimmie) Richardson.  Brother to Jean McSweeney and her husband Phil of Winthrop, ME, Patricia Casey and her late husband Jack of Burlington, MA, Barbara Perdigao and her husband Dan of Easton, MA, Mary Young and her husband Bill of Halifax, MA. He was the son-in-law to the late John J. Forde (DFD) and Rita (Gillis) Forde.  He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tom’s family is deeply grateful for the wonderful care and compassion he received from his medical team and the many excellent nurses at Dana Faber Cancer Institute, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, and Hebrew Senior Life Hospice Center.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Saturday morning at 10:30. Visiting will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, prior to from 8:30-10:00.  Burial private.
