Sophie Marie Patts passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2022. Sophie was born in Boston to her Deaf parents Arthur and Marie Conley along with her hearing sister, Margaret. Her father was president of the Boston Deaf Club and the family was very involved with the Boston Deaf Community as Sophie grew up. From her early school years through high school she attended Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, MA and always enjoyed the reunions after where she could get together with her classmates. After Clarke she attended secretary school and then married, having two children, Loretta who was Deaf and her son Gerry. Sophie worked for many years at John Hancock and eventually became a supervisor when she was offered the golden handshake at 55. From then on she enjoyed traveling in New England, collecting antiques, and going canoeing and taking beach walks with her husband. She loved Saturday pizza time, Monday Deaf Bingo, and trips to Foxwoods. In between she loved to visit family and especially cook for them. She made the best desserts! She will be deeply missed by her daughter Loretta and husband Mark, her grandchildren Christopher, Gregory, Linda and Paige and their families and her great grandchildren Sophie, Herja and Ronan and her sister Margaret Seaver and her family. She will happily be joining her dear husband Ricky and beloved son Gerry. The family would also like to thank The New England Homes for the Deaf in Danvers for their excellent care of her and affording her the joy of being with the Deaf Community in her final days. A Graveside Service for Sophie will be held at Milton Cemetery, 211 Centre Street, Milton MA at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022 for family and invited guests.
