Ruth N. (Shea) Page, age 99, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born and raised in Dorchester, graduating from St. Gregory's High School. She had a career as a bookkeeper, working for several employers before retiring from her position at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Ruth was a devout Catholic and active member of the church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at the Shattuck Hospital. Ruth was dedicated to her family and will be greatly missed.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Page and a nurturing mother to Nancy Cummings of North Quincy, John Page and his wife Tamara of Medway, James Page of North Quincy, Edward Page and his wife Christine of Bridgewater. She was also a guiding light to her late children, Robert Page and Marian Nartowt. Ruth's legacy continues through her sister, Muriel McArdle of Hingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Julia Shea, and her brother, Edward Shea. Her spirit will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who have been left with countless treasured memories of “Mimi.”
Two of Ruth’s passions were baking and traveling. She was known for her skill as a baker and cake decorator. Ruth created wedding cakes for all her children showing off her artistic talent and providing a lasting memory and demonstration of love to her family.
Ruth's love of travel led her to journeys across the globe, including Italy, Ireland, and Hawaii. However, her most meaningful trip was to Israel and Jerusalem allowing her to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing the Holy Land and swimming in the Sea of Galilee.
Ruth’s character was the epitome of what it means to be faith-filled, generous, and loving. Her unwavering faith was the compass by which she navigated life's challenges and celebrated its blessings. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she gave freely of her time, her skills, and her heart to everyone she met. Ruth's love was a constant, gentle presence that comforted and uplifted those around her.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth’s life by gathering for visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave, Milton, Sunday August 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, Monday August 19th at 10:00. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
