Robert "Bobby" Leonard Obituary

Robert W. "Bobby" Leonard, a lifelong resident of Milton, MA, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Born in Malden, MA, Bobby was the beloved son of the late Edward F. and Marie Leonard, a cherished brother, a dedicated uncle, and a friend to many.

Bobby was raised in Milton and proudly graduated from Milton High School. He devoted much of his professional life to the local community, working diligently on the grounds crew at Milton Cemetery. His commitment to public service extended into his more recent role with the Milton Public Works, from which he retired in 2021. Bobby's dedication to his hometown shone through his membership as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Milton Fire Department.

Beyond his work and service, Bobby was known for his love of listening to Police and Fire scanners, a hobby that complemented his vast collection of model fire trucks, shoulder patches from fire departments from around the state and beyond, and other first responder memorabilia. These interests reflected his deep respect for those who served in emergency services and his enduring commitment to the safety of his community.

Bobby's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served as an Usher at St. Agatha Church in Milton. Those who knew Bobby would describe him as loving, friendly, and gentle—a man whose kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind his brother, Steven Leonard and his wife Nilda of Randolph, and was predeceased by his brother Wayne G. Leonard. Bobby will be fondly remembered by his nephew Mark Leonard of Stoneham, and his niece Amy Stage of Chicago, IL., his sister-in-law Ellen Pothier of Sudbury, the Dias family of Weymouth, his many cousins, his neighbors on lower Rowe St., and of course, his girls - Cathy, Pat, Ellen and Chris. Their    memories of Bobby will be cherished and retold with smiles and love for years to come.

Bobby's passing marks the end of an era for his family and friends, but his legacy of kindness, service, and community spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we bid farewell to Robert W. Leonard, we celebrate a life well-lived, a community enriched, and a man deeply loved.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered, and so we will gather to honor and reminisce about the man who brought so much light into our lives. Bobby's memory will be eternally etched in the hearts of those he left behind.

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave, Milton Sunday 3:00 to 6:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, Milton Monday morning at 10:30.  Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
