Visiting hours will be held prior to the service at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave, Milton, MA, on Tuesday morning, August 15, from 8 am to 10 am. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's Church in Milton at 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
Robert K. Doocey, a beloved family man and devoted public servant, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2023, in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Born on May 30, 1951, in Boston, Massachusetts, Robert was the cherished son of the late Edward and Frances (Matthews) Doocey. His life was marked by a deep love for his family, a passion for service, and an unwavering kindness that touched all who knew him.
Robert was educated in Boston, graduating from Hyde Park High School before attending Suffolk University. He dedicated his career to public service, retiring after more than 30 years of service as an auditor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develpoment. His diligence and dedication in this role were a testament to his commitment to improving the lives of those in his community.
His family remained at the center of his world. Robert was the loving husband of the late Nancy A. (Donoghue) Doocey, and the proud father of Caitlin Doocey of Uxbridge. He was also a dear brother to Mary Lou Stoddard and her husband Allan of Williamsburg, Virginia, Michele Hanley of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Edward Doocey and his wife Mary (Locy) of Zoar, Ohio. Robert is also survived by his Mother-in-law Anna Donoghue of Milton, MA. The joy he brought to his many nieces and nephews was immeasurable.
Outside of work, Robert was an active member of the Franklin Elks and found great joy in spending time with his family. His love for his family extended into every aspect of his life, and he was always there to offer a kind word or a helping hand. He was known for his gentle nature and the love he had for his family and friends.
Robert's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and service. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his commitment to public service. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and served. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
