Richard W. Petitti, of Milton, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at Hancock Park Rehabilitation in Quincy, Massachusetts. Born on October 12, 1938, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, to Andrew and Julia Petitti, Richard's warmth and charisma touched all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A proud graduate of Dorchester High School, Richard furthered his education at Bentley University, where he honed the skills that would define his career. Richard dedicated many years as a computer system analyst for the city of Boston, where his expertise and dedication made a significant impact on the community he served.

Richard's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Petitti and Julia Petitti as well as his brothers Andrew and David.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn R. Petitti (Finnegan), his son, Erik Petitti of Milton and his siblings, Robert Petitti of Braintree, Kenneth Petitti of Providence, and Martha Molloy of Nantucket.
He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and friends.  



An avid golfer, Richard could often be found on the greens of Ponkapoag in Canton, where his friendly demeanor made him a favorite among his fellow golfers. His outgoing nature extended beyond the golf course, making him a beloved figure in all his circles.

Those who knew Richard will remember him as a loving, friendly, and thoughtful man. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, his infectious smile, and his genuine interest in others' well-being were his trademarks. Richard's presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire love and kindness in the hearts of those he touched.

Richard's legacy is one of compassion, camaraderie, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. As we bid farewell to a man of great character and warmth, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless ways he enriched our lives. Richard W. Petitti's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and he will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.


A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Parish Friday morning at 11:30. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave., Milton MA prior to Mass on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Quincy.
