Philip J. Murphy, age 87, of Milton passed away January 11th. Born and raised in Quincy he served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for New England Telephone as a Manager for many years before retiring. In his free time he enjoyed having family and friends over at his pool. Phil was a sports enthusiast who loved watching hockey and playing and watching golf. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 294 in Quincy for 60 years. Beloved husband of the late Ellen M. (White). Father of Beverly Sutton of Weymouth, Brenda Oskin & her husband Joe of Milton, Kevin M. Murphy of Milton and the late Steven J. Murphy. Grandfather of Keri Rist and her husband Matt, Brittany Sutton and her husband Nick, Nicki, & Kelsey Sutton, Michael Oskin and his wife Meg and Timothy Oskin and his wife Meg and Brendan and Jason Murphy. Brother of Charles Murphy and his wife Bev of Weymouth and the late Virginia Moran and Brenda Murphy. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Funeral service at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Friday morning at 11:00 am. Visiting hours prior to the service Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Burial Milton Cemetery. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
