Peter Francis Rogerson Jr, age 100, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
Peter was an only child and was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katherine Rogerson. He was also predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Paula( Power) Rogerson.
Peter was a proud father to his six children, John and his wife Sue, Mary Ghiorse and husband Richard, Nancy MacCune and husband Bob, Peter and wife Janet, Stephen and wife Nancy , Paula Doherty and husband Richie. He revered being Papa to his 14 grandchildren and Old Papa to his 10 great grandchildren.
Peter will be remembered as a man of deep faith, having a strong work ethic and unwavering love for his family and country. He proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Naval Reserves during the Korean War. He relished being a double Double Eagle graduating from BC High and Boston College. Together with his dad he owned and operated Rogerson Orthopedic Appliances, which he continued to run alone upon his dad’s passing. He worked tirelessly and the business expanded to include prosthetics,employing two of his sons, a son-in-law, a daughter and often other family members. His business still thrives today as Rogerson Orthotics and Prosthetics, a fourth Generation family run business with a grandson now part of the operations.
Peter was a deeply devoted husband and father. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Ireland, Italy, Bermuda and spent many winters in Naples, Florida. He loved taking his children on Sunday rides to get ice cream, renting a cottage at Humarock beach every August and introducing them all to the sport of skiing. He continued this with his grandchildren, often renting several condos for family ski weekends.
He was a dedicated Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots and BC fan. He spent numerous years tailgating with friends at BC Football games. He traveled to Florida and witnessed the famous Hail Mary pass by Doug Flutie. He was an avid reader, cribbage player, lover of sweets and his daily scotch.
He will be remembered as a devout Catholic, a true gentleman and family man.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the AYJ Fund, North Adams MA and or the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, MA.
Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton on Saturday January 17th from 8:30-9:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Quincy at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Milton Cemetery.
