Peter J. Donovan

Peter J. Donovan of South Yarmouth (formerly of Quincy and Plymouth) passed peacefully on February 15, 2023 after a hard fought battle with esophageal cancer. Beloved son of Peter and Kathleen (Mahoney) Donovan of South Yarmouth, brother of Emily and her husband Evan Curtis of Norwood and uncle of Emmett John. Peter (Pete) leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and “nieces and nephews.” He joins his grandparents, Peter and Mildred Donovan and Emmett and Kathleen Mahoney and many other loved ones.  Pete was a big man with an even bigger heart!  Pete attended BC High and Bridgewater State University where he was a basketball standout.  Pete spent much of his career as an Assistant Probation Officer at Brockton and Plymouth Superior Courts and was a Security Officer at BI Plymouth.  Pete spent much of his time as a child and adult on Cape Cod. He had a love for life that couldn’t be matched. He spent his years building a long list of close friends and loved nothing more than spending time laughing with those closest to him. While Pete’s time with us was far too short he spent it amassing so many friends and memories. 

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Sunday 2:00 to 6:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church Milton, Monday morning at 10:30.  Burial private.
