Paul B. Douglass Jr., a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 21, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Born in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts, Paul's life was a testament to the joy and light he brought into the world.
Paul was the beloved son of the late Paul B. and Anne L. "Nancy" Douglass. He grew up surrounded by the love and camaraderie of his siblings: Michael W. Douglass and his wife Susan of Virginia, Elizabeth A. Douglass of Milton, and Maryellen Van Royen and her husband Donald of Pennsylvania. His role as an uncle to Sean, Shannon, and Addie was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance and laughter will be dearly missed.
A proud graduate of Milton High School, Paul carried the spirit of his community with him throughout his life. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft were evident in the successful operation of P & S Pool Company, which he owned and managed for many years. His work was not only a career but also a venue through which he formed lasting friendships and connections.
Paul's love for the outdoors was unrivaled, particularly when it came to the slopes. An avid skier, he spent several years living in Colorado, embracing the mountain lifestyle. When the snow began to fall, one could almost certainly find him at his favorite place, Killington Mountain in Vermont, where he carved memories into the trails each winter. His passion for skiing was matched by his enthusiasm for biking, another activity that showcased his love for the thrill and beauty of nature.
Beyond his outdoor pursuits, Paul was an ardent supporter of Boston sports, a loyalty that was as steadfast as his presence in the stands or in front of the television cheering on his favorite teams. His infectious smile and kind heart were constants at games, gatherings, and in everyday life. Paul had the rare ability to light up a room with his presence, and his generous spirit meant that he was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need.
Those who knew Paul would describe him as loving, kind, and generous. His warmth and compassion were the pillars upon which he built his relationships, and these traits were the foundation of the legacy he leaves behind. Paul's impact on the lives of those around him was profound, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide them.
As we bid farewell to Paul, we celebrate a life lived with boundless love and generosity. His spirit, though no longer in our midst, will forever be woven into the fabric of the many lives he touched.
Paul B. Douglass Jr. will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever, as bright and enduring as his remarkable smile.
