Nora A. (Goonan) Morrissey

Nora A. Morrissey (Goonan), of Dorchester passed away peacefully on April 7th.  Born in the town of Drumnamuchla outside of Woodford, County Galway, Ireland she was raised in Galway and immigrated to the United States in 1949 at the age of 19.  She worked as a Cake Decorator at Dorothy Muriel’s Bakery in Allston and later worked for Hart Caterers both in Dorchester and at the Lantana facility in Randolph before retiring. 

Nora met her husband Pat Morrissey, also from Galway, at a dance in Dudley Square, and they married in 1957.  Nora was a woman of great faith.  She and Pat were very active members of St Gregory’s Parish in Dorchester.  Nora had a great love for her friends and family, especially her 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

Nora was the beloved wife of the late Patrick G. Morrissey. Mother of Mary A. Delaney and her husband John of Whitman, John J. Morrissey of Dorchester, and Thomas H. Morrissey and his wife Stephanie of Canton. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Ryan, Sarah, Brendan, Stephen, Lauren, Mary Kate, Erin, Kelly and Patrick and 4 great grandchildren Nora, Jack, Addison and Kinsley and many nieces and nephews.  Sister of Thomas Goonan and his wife Nora of Needham, Margaret Minogue and Bridget Stapleton both of Ireland and the late Mary Curley, Patrick, Gerald, Michael, Joseph and Henry Goonan.  Cousin of Mary V. Miele of Boston.  Funeral Mass at St. Gregory’s Church, Dorchester Tuesday morning at 11 am.  Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Tuesday morning prior to the mass from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Burial Milton Cemetery.  Donations may be made in her memory to St. Gregory’s Church 2215 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA 02124.
