Maureen Finnerty, born on October 15, 1944, in County Galway, Ireland, passed away on June 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Maureen was born, raised, and educated in County Galway, Ireland, and came to the United States at the age of 17. She carried with her the values of hard work, warmth, and devotion that would guide her throughout her life. After first living in Jamaica Plain, she later made her home in Milton in 1979, where she became a cherished member of the community and built a life centered on family, kindness, and generosity.

Maureen was the beloved wife of Colman Finnerty. She was the devoted mother of Martin T. Finnerty of Milton, Deborah A. Finnerty of Milton, Kathleen T. Finnerty of Milton, Maureen E. Finnerty of Milton, and the late Anne Finnerty. She was also a proud and loving grandmother of Coleman and Julia Olszewski. She was the loving sister of 10 siblings.    Her family was the center of her life, and she gave them her unwavering love, support, and care in every season of life.

Maureen loved children and spent many years running a home day care, where her patience, compassion, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless children and families. She had a natural gift for caring for others, and those who knew her understood that she found joy in nurturing and helping those around her. Her home was a place of comfort and welcome, and she created an environment where others felt valued and loved.

She was extremely devoted to her family and took great pride in bringing people together. Maureen loved hosting parties and preparing food for everyone, especially her family and their friends. Her table was always a place of warmth, laughter, and generous hospitality. She found happiness in the simple but meaningful act of feeding others, and her cooking was an expression of her love. She also baked for the Pine Street Inn and the Shattuck Shelter in Jamaica Plain, extending her kindness beyond her own home to help those in need. Her generosity of spirit was evident in all that she did.

Maureen will be remembered for her deep faith in family, her welcoming heart, and the many ways she made life brighter for others. She had a quiet strength, a loving nature, and a remarkable ability to make people feel at ease. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the children she cared for, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and devotion.

She is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will forever hold her memory close. Maureen Finnerty’s life was one of love, service, and dedication, and she will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Milton Wednesday July 1st at 11:30 am.  Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery.
