Maura Conroy Obituary

Maura Conroy (Ruane), a beacon of kindness and wisdom, passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2024. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, Maura brought the warmth of her Irish roots to everyone she encountered. Her faith-filled spirit and kind-heartedness were as enduring as the land of her birth.

Maura was the beloved wife of the late Martin Conroy, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. She was a dedicated mother to Sally DeFrancesco of Milton, Mary Furber and her husband Frank of Milton, and Brian Conroy and his wife Donna of Milton. Her nurturing love extended to her role as a grandmother to Alicia DeFrancesco and her husband Amar, Jessica Conroy, Jenna Conroy, and Johnna McKenna and her husband Bob. Maura was also a proud great-grandmother to Jaiden and Madelyn McKenna.

Maura was the sister of the late Breedge, Tommy, Evelyn, Annie Kate, Peggy, and Johnny, and she carried the memories of her siblings with her, honoring their lives through her own actions and storytelling.

Professionally, Maura spent many fulfilling years as a cook at Milton High School, where her culinary skills and warm demeanor left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. Prior to that, she was a valued employee at Verizon, where her hard work and dedication were well recognized.

Maura's interests painted a picture of a woman who cherished the simple joys of life. She found solace in spending time on the Cape. Her garden was a testament to her patience and love for nature, with every flower and plant nurtured by her hands. Cooking was another passion, as she delighted in preparing meals for her family, infusing each dish with the flavors of her heritage.

In her later years, when Maura became housebound, she found comfort and inspiration in watching Catholic Television. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she enjoyed the visits from Father Bennett, who provided her with spiritual nourishment and companionship.

Special appreciation is extended to Maura's caregiver, Josie, who has been a steadfast presence in her life for many years. Josie's dedication and support were immeasurable and provided Maura with a sense of security and friendship. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Norwell Visiting Nurses/Hospice group for their exceptional care and assistance during the hospice process.

Maura Conroy's life was a testament to her wise, faith-filled, and kind nature. She lived her life with grace and left behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
