Mary "May" Ann (Vento) Lima Obituary
Mary “May” Ann (Vento) Lima, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Lima Sr., with whom she shared many devoted years of marriage.
Born in Boston on July 20, 1931, she was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Brazzo) Vento.
Mary is survived by her loving children: her daughter, Irene Lima Butler of Warren, RI; her son, Leonard Lima Jr. and his partner, Chris Robar, of Plymouth, MA; and her son, William Lima Sr. and his wife, Cindy, of Middleboro, MA. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, John, Catherine, Gary, Leonard III, Mary, Sarah, William Jr., Allie, and Joseph, as well as ten great-grandchildren, Harper, Leo, William III, Grace, Nolan, Theodore, Elora, Scarlett, Charlotte, and Luca, all of whom brought her immense joy. She was predeceased by all of her siblings.
Raised in South Boston alongside her six siblings, Mary carried a deep sense of family, tradition, and pride throughout her life. She was especially proud of her Italian heritage, always sharing her love through food, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
Mary and her husband lived in Milton for over 40 years, where they raised their family and later watched their grandchildren grow up in the same community.
Mary took great pride in her role as a crossing guard for the MDC at Tucker Elementary School in Milton, where she safely guided generations of children, including her own children and grandchildren, to school. Her presence there was a constant source of comfort and familiarity to the community.
She also cherished her time working alongside her dear friends at Walk Hill Florist in Roslindale, where she found joy in the beauty of flowers and the friendships she built.
One of Mary’s happiest places was her cottage in Plymouth, where she loved hosting family gatherings filled with laughter and tradition. She enjoyed playing bocce and spending endless hours playing card games with her family, even teaching her younger grandchildren how to play. It was there that she created countless cherished memories surrounded by those she loved most.
Mary’s greatest passion in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt whose love, strength, and warmth will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home in Milton, MA on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 9:30-11:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agatha’s Parish in Milton, MA at 12pm.
