Mary T. (Delaney) McLoughlin Obituary
Mary T. McLoughlin, age 94, of Milton, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family and community.
Born and educated in Ireland, Mary came to the United States at the age of 22 and made her life in the Boston area, where she became known for her warmth, her strong work ethic, and her deep commitment to those she loved. She spent many years working as a housekeeper in homes throughout Milton, continuing in that role until 2014. Through her steady care, quiet dignity, and dependable nature, she touched many lives and earned the respect and affection of all who knew her.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late John McLoughlin, with whom she shared many cherished years. Together, they built a loving home filled with family, music, and tradition. She especially treasured going to Irish dances with her husband John, and those memories remained close to her heart throughout her life. Mary was a devoted mother to John McLoughlin and his wife Lori of Saugus, and Mary Gaeta and her husband Joseph of Peabody. She was a proud grandmother of Anthony Gaeta of East Boston, and her family brought her great joy and comfort. She was also the sister of the late Ann Smyth.
Mary was a faithful and avid parishioner of St. Gregory Parish in Dorchester, where her presence was a familiar and comforting one. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she lived it quietly and sincerely through her kindness, generosity, and steadfast spirit. She was lovingly described by those who knew her best as kind, loving, and faith-filled, and these words reflect the essence of the woman she was. Her door was always open to friends and Irish relatives, and she welcomed others with a gracious heart and a warm smile.
In her quieter moments, Mary enjoyed knitting and reading, pastimes that suited her gentle nature. She found happiness in simple pleasures and in the company of those she loved. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she remained deeply interested in their lives, their milestones, and their well-being. She was the kind of person who gave of herself freely and without hesitation, and her presence will be missed in countless ways by those whose lives she enriched.
Mary McLoughlin will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong faith, and the gentle kindness she extended to everyone around her. She lived a long and meaningful life, rooted in love and guided by the values she carried with her from Ireland to her home in Massachusetts. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
