Marilyn Strachan Obituary

Marilyn L. Strachan (Sullivan) of Pembroke passed away May 9th.  Born in Boston, she was raised in Roxbury and graduated from Newbury College.  In her early years she worked as a Waitress at Casa Beirut and the Pleasant Café and later worked as a Respiratory Therapist at the Mattapan Hospital before retiring.  Marilyn loved spending time and playing cards and cribbage at the Senior Center in Pembroke.  She was also an avid sports fan and a big Tom Brady fan.  For five years she worked as Coordinator for the Alanon meeting and Alcohol Hotline at the Faulkner Hospital.  She also taught CCD and was a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale and volunteered as a Live in Foster Mother for the Arch Diocese in Brighton.  She also loved to travel and in her 40’s backpacked through Europe 3 summers in a row and most especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Beloved wife of the late Dan N. Strachan. Daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Saccoccio) Sullivan.  Devoted mother of Dan Strachan and his wife Tracey, Joyce Judge and her husband Stephen, Allison Beal (Strachan) and Phillip Strachan.  Grandmother of Tara, Benjamin, Eric, Amanda, Daniel, Christopher, Rachel, Scout and Jake. Six treasured great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by siblings- Betty, Norma, John, Evelyn, Helen, Barbara, Virginia, Albert, Jack, Paul, Ruth, Phyllis, Joyce and Gloria. 

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park Friday morning at 10:00 am.  Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
