Marie T. (Reidy) McDonnell

Marie T. (Reidy) McDonnell, Age 82 of Milton passed away on December 3rd, surrounded by her loving family at home. Beloved wife of the late Anthony (Andy) McDonnell.  Devoted mother of Michael, John and his wife Carla, Andrew and his wife Allison and Kevin and his wife Heather, all of Milton. She was the proud and adoring Nana to Ryan, Mollie, Meghan, Bailey, Patrick, Sarah, Andrew, Michael, Matthew and Shannon. Loving sister to Margaret (Peggy) McHugh & her husband Michael of Whitman.  Also survived by niece Maryanne and nephews Michael & Brian and many relatives in Ireland.  Marie grew up in Savin Hill, Dorchester and was the daughter to the late Michael & Margaret (Shea) Reidy.  Marie and Andy spent many summers on Monponset Lake with the Currans and had great memories with their friends and family at their house on the Cape and Lake Sunapee. She worked for many years and retired from the MA State Lottery. She was an active member of St. Agatha’s Parish, faithfully attending services every Sunday and volunteering at weekly bingo.  Marie could be seen in the front row of all her grandchildren’s sporting and musical events.  She thoroughly enjoyed her Fitness Unlimited gym class and spending time with the many friends she met there.  She was loved and adored by those who were lucky enough to cross her path or taste her homemade Irish bread. Her smile and positive attitude were contagious.  She was most known for the pep in her step and her love for Milton and Savin Hill. 

Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Tuesday from 4-7 pm.  Due to the Current Covid 19 restrictions only 20 guests are allowed in the funeral home at a time, masks are required, and guests should bring their own pens to sign the register book.  A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agatha Church, Milton Wednesday morning at 10:30.  Burial Milton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Dana Farber Cancer Center 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215 or St. Agatha’s Church 432 Adams St. Milton, MA 02186.
