Margaret (Salah) Sarofeen, 95 of Milton, formerly of Gloucester passed away peacefully May 30th at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was married to her husband Thomas for 43 years until his passing in 1990.
She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church in Jamaica Plain for over 50 years and so proud of her Lebanese heritage and of the Maronite community. She was actively involved with her church and was a member of the St. Maron Society, Daughters Society and St. Sharbel Society. She gladly volunteered for many church events including the yearly Christmas Bazaar and the annual Festival. She was past President of the Daughters Society and past Chairlady of the Christmas Bazaar. She enjoyed opening her home to family and friends especially her weekly card games with childhood friends.
Wife of the late Thomas Sarofeen, she is survived by her son David Sarofeen of Milton and daughter Tafi Sarofeen Casey and husband Thomas of Milton and predeceased by her son Thomas Sarofeen of Gloucester. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonathan, Adrienne and Lauren and 3 great grandchildren Cole, Mason and Emma. Dear sister of Madeline Sarofeen and Mary Gibran of Gloucester and the late Joseph Salah, Amelia Salah, Lorriane Deeb, Alice Santos and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Cedar Church, 61 Rockwood St. Jamaica Plain, Tuesday, morning, June 8th, at 11 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue Milton, Monday, June 7th from 4 to 7 pm. Burial in Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
In lieu flowers, donations would be welcomed to Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Church or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
