Lorraine C. Brunnock (née Ochs), passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 23, 2024. Born on May 22, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts, she grew up in the heart of Dorchester and later called Milton her home for many cherished years until she retired and moved to Attleboro.
A graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston, Lorraine's early career was spent at the New England Telephone Company. Her life took a joyful turn in 1963 when she married Edmund M. Brunnock, with whom she shared seven years of marriage before his untimely passing in 1970. Lorraine's resilience and strength were hallmarks of her character as she devoted herself to raising their three children.
Once her children had grown, Lorraine returned to the workforce as a teacher's aide in the Milton Public School system, a role that allowed her to share her nurturing spirit with many more children. She later retired from the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) as an Administrative Assistant, where she was both respected and loved by her colleagues.
Lorraine's zest for life was evident in her many passions and pursuits. She cherished the simple pleasure of time spent at the beach, and her camper in Dennisport was the site of many happy summers and weekends. Retirement afforded her the luxury of spending full summers basking in the coastal breeze, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A woman of spirited humor and warmth, Lorraine was the heartbeat of her family. She relished in the joy of hosting holidays, with every Christmas being a testament to her love for her family as she cooked and cared for them. Her grandchildren, Caitlin, Madeline, Ava, Jenna, James Jr., Thomas, Daniel and his fiance Amanda knew her as their beloved Nani Peaches, a testament to her sweet and loving nature.
Lorraine lived life accompanied by laughter, often sharing stories with a self-deprecating wit that left everyone "belly laughing." Her humor was as much a part of her as her generous spirit. Her love for the Red Sox was as steadfast as her enjoyment of game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and she never passed up a good episode of the Young and the Restless.
Traveling with friends brought Lorraine immense joy, exploring many destinations and savoring new experiences. Yet, it was always the return to her family and grandchildren that she cherished most, embodying the very essence of love and devotion.
She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Edmund T. Brunnock and his wife Meghan of Pawcatuck, Conn; Denise Nolan and her husband James of Milton, MA; and Maura Shipman and her husband Jonathan of Attleboro, her dear sister Patricia Norton and her husband Richard of N. Quincy, her lifelong childhood friend Ismay and her husband Paul Hogan of Weymouth. She was preceded in death by her infant sister Carolyn Ochs of Dorchester. Lorraine's legacy also lives on through her adored nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who were touched by her vibrant spirit.
Lorraine's life was one of laughter, love, and spirited energy. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family and the many lives she touched. Her story is one of a life well-lived, full of love and laughter, and she will be remembered for the joy and humor she brought into the world. Lorraine C. Brunnock was a remarkable woman who lived her life with grace and strength and leaves behind an indelible mark on the hearts of those she loved.
