Lolita D. Rizal, affectionately known as Lola, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on December 5, 1935, in Parian, Calamba Laguna, Philippines,  she was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life. Lolita was the cherished daughter of the late Apolinario and Lucia Domingo and the devoted wife of the late Francisco G. Rizal. Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her daughters, Belina Tercanli and her husband Tanju of SC and Dr. Wilma Rizal Bilton and her husband Mark of Duxbury, MA, and her grandchildren, Nuri Tercanli, Andrea Bilton, Lauren Bilton, and Evan Bilton.

Lolita was the caring sister of Eufrocina of Missouri, Mercedita of Quincy, and was predeceased by her siblings Emilia, Rodrigo, Roberto, Artemio, and Romeo. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews,  and her best friend Lois Bilton. All remember Lolita for her love and kindness.

After immigrating to the United States in 1969, Lolita became a lifelong resident of Quincy. She held a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in accounting from the Calamba Institute in Calamba Laguna, Philippines. She retired from State Street Bank, after 25 years of committed service. Her professionalism and work ethic were a testament to her character, and she took great pride in her career.

Lolita's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devout Catholic and long-time  parishioner at Sacred Heart Parish in Quincy and more recently Holy Family in Duxbury. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Group in Quincy where she found great comfort and fellowship. Her faith-filled spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Her interests were as varied as they were rich. Lolita was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Boston Celtics, professional  tennis matches, and even professional boxing matches with enthusiasm. She enjoyed gardening, particularly growing roses. She was also an excellent cook, known for her traditional Filipino dishes, which she generously prepared for family and friends.

Lolita loved to be with her family. She enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren, and watching her favorite game shows with them as well.

Those who knew Lolita will remember her as a loving, selfless individual who always put others before herself. Her genuine care and concern for those around her made her a treasured friend and confidant. If you knew her, she prayed for you and your well-being.

As we bid farewell to Lolita D. Rizal, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched. Lolita's journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for us all.
