Linda Craven Obituary

Linda L. Craven, a treasured educator, devoted wife, loving mother, and kind-hearted soul, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025.

Born to the late Mario and Madeline Salvi, Linda's life was one of compassion, education, and enduring love. She met the love of her life, John P. "Pat" Craven, when she was just 14 years old. Their childhood romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted 42 joy-filled years until Pat's passing. Together, they built a family anchored in love and mutual respect. Linda's legacy continues through her children, Alanna R. Craven and her wife Susan Bonner of Norwood, and Melissa A. Craven of Milton. Her brother, Leo Salvi of Plymouth, also survives her, along with her cherished canine companions, Zippy and Blue, and a host of cousins, in-laws, and friends who were all touched by her warmth and generosity.

Linda's passion for education led her to earn a Bachelor's degree from Boston State College. Her career as a teacher for Boston Public Schools and her work with the Department of Youth Services reflected her unwavering commitment to nurturing the minds and spirits of young people. Linda's dedication to her profession was matched only by her resolve in the face of illness, which she battled with grace and courage for many years.

Throughout her life, Linda's kind and thoughtful nature was evident in her love for fostering dogs through the Long Island Bulldog Rescue. She provided a loving home to many four-legged friends who needed her care and affection. Linda's wanderlust took her to beautiful locales with her lifelong beloved friends, with Aruba and Hawaii holding special places in her heart.

In the tranquility of her later years, Linda found solace in her garden. She took great pride in her hydrangeas, and her beautifully kept yard was a testament to her love for nature and the simple joys of life. Friends and family will fondly remember Linda's garden as a place of beauty and reflection, much like Linda herself.

The words "loving," "kind," and "thoughtful" only begin to capture the essence of Linda. Her impact on the world was as profound as the love she shared so freely. Linda's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this earthly realm, the seeds of kindness she planted will continue to bloom and inspire for generations to come. Linda's life was a masterclass in love, resilience, and the power of human connection. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light to those she loved.
