Lillian G. Gordek Obituary

Lillian G. Gordek, affectionately known as Lee to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, at the John Scott Nursing Home in Braintree. Born in Maspeth, NY, Lee's journey through life was marked by her loving nature and kind spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she met.

Lee was a cherished sister to the late Albert and Leo Lasis. Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her devoted niece Janet McDonagh and her husband Michael of Pocasset, along with their children Caroline, Kristen, and Ryan, and great nieces Madison, Adalynn, and Ryleigh who brought great joy to her life. She will also be remembered by her nephew John Lasis of Weymouth and son Jonathan and great niece Kennedy. Lee's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she often expressed her love and pride for each of them through her actions and unwavering support.

Raised in Maspeth, Lee's early education there laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She went on to build a successful career as an accountant at Instron Corporation in Canton, where her colleagues remember her as a dedicated professional who brought warmth and grace to the workplace every day.

Outside of her professional life, Lee was an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds and ideas within the pages of a book. Lee’s family passion was babysitting for her grand nieces and nephew, where they developed an inseparable bond.  She also loved going to bingo and visiting casinos, where she enjoyed the thrill of possibility. Lee also found joy and camaraderie in teaching and playing cards with her family and friends for pennies and nickels, while sharing laughter and creating memories around the table.

Those who knew Lee best would describe her as a loving and kind soul, a person whose gentle demeanor and generous heart left a lasting impression. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Lee's ability to listen with empathy and provide support without judgment made her a confidante and friend to many.

As we bid farewell to Lillian G. Gordek, we reflect on a life well-lived, a life filled with love, kindness, and meaningful connections. Her legacy is one of reading and book sharing as she worked at the library in her post retirement days and donated many books to her fellow readers.  Lee's spirit, characterized by her quiet strength and unwavering love, will forever be etched in the memories of her family and friends.

We take solace in knowing that Lee is now at peace, reunited with her brothers, sister-in-law, and Gram McDonagh. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary person she was and the remarkable life she led. Lee's influence and the cherished moments spent with her will remain with us always.
