Lila Pronczuk Obituary

Lila M. Pronczuk (Dasko) of Milton passed away March 4th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  Born to Polish parents in postwar Hampstead, Germany, she emigrated to Boston with her family at the age of 5.  She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School and U-Mass, Boston.  Growing up, she shared her joy of singing and playing the accordion at various Polish cultural events.  It is at one such event that she met her future husband, Andrzej Pronczuk, whom she married in 1968.  After her marriage she moved to Poland for 15 years before moving back to the Neponset section of Dorchester in 1983.   She has lived in Milton for the last 15 years and worked for the Archdiocese of Boston as the Director of Out-Patient Services for Laboure Center in S. Boston.  Renowned for her makowiec poppyseed cakes, she incorporated her love of baking with leading many fundraisers, such as the Polish Christmas Craft Fair  for the Polish Cultural Foundation, Inc. while also serving as a board member.  As a woman of devout faith, she was also a member of the Rosary Circle of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.  In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, working in her garden and spending time with her grandchildren.  A compassionate caretaker Lila treasured spending and hosting the holidays with her family.

Beloved wife, confidante and supporter of Andrzej for over 50 years.   Devoted mother of Michal Pronczuk and his wife Monika of Weymouth, Danuta Pronczuk of Arlington, VA, and Monika Schiller and her husband Michael of Arlington, VA.  Loving grandmother of Emilia and Jakub Pronczuk and Gabriela Schiller.  Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Friday from 5-8 pm.  Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 655 Dorchester Ave, S. Boston Saturday morning at 10.  Burial Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.  In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in her memory to the Polish Cultural Foundation, Inc. 15 Marshall Rd Milton, MA 02186.
