Laura Jensen Obituary

Laura A. (Fitzgerald) Jensen, “Laurie” Age 57 of Milton, entered eternal rest, December 2, 2020. Devoted mother of Kyle, Samantha and Lindsey Jensen.  Born in Boston, she grew up in Milton, graduating from Milton High School and attending UMass Amherst.  Laurie started her career as a hairdresser for several years and later worked for Verizon in various capacities, as a field technician fixing payphones, installing phones and internet services (including climbing poles) and most recently coordinating technicians in the field.

Laurie’s passion was for her children, an amazing mother who supported them in everything they did.  She volunteered as a girl scout leader, soccer, basketball and softball coach.  She also volunteered with Milton Soccer and the Milton High School Boosters.  Laurie loved watching her children, nieces and nephews participate in local sporting events.

Laurie loved photography, capturing her children and her extended family’s many celebrations and get-together over the years.  She also was an avid Boston sports fan, enjoying all of the success the local teams had over the past 20 years.  But her favorite was by far the Celtics.  Watching a game with Laurie was like having Tommy Heinsohn in the room, as the Celtics could do no wrong.

She is the daughter of the late Mary R. (Sullivan) Fitzgerald and Robert M. Fitzgerald.  She is survived by her sisters and brothers; Mary Kelly of Milton, Joseph Fitzgerald of Amesbury, Thomas Fitzgerald of NH, Arleen Bernardi of Milton, Diane Mackenzie of Weymouth, Amy Adams and Linda Fitzgerald of NH, and Jean Faust of CA. She was a special beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Over the past few years, Laurie battled esophageal cancer with the help of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  She was moved by their commitment to her care and had hoped to volunteer at Dana Farber, as she was in awe of all of the kind volunteers she met.  She never complained and was an inspiration in bravery to all who knew her struggle.

Due to COVID-19, services are private under the care of Alfred Thomas Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute at http://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/goto/LaurieJensen
