Kathryn M. McElroy

Kathryn M. McElroy (McKinnon), age 91 of Quincy passed away peacefully at home December 26th surrounded by her loving family.  Devoted mother of Nancy J. King of Quincy and Amy J. Lyons and her husband Dave of Newton.  Loving Grandmother to Michael T. King Jr., Melany K. King, Ava K. Lyons, Chloe E. Lyons, and Jake A. Lyons.  Sister of the late Joan Abney. 

 Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Jeremiah Burke High School, Bridgewater State College and earned her Master’s in Family Counseling from Eastern Nazarene College.  She taught for 35 years at Hyde Park High School before retiring.  She was a longtime member of the Boston Teachers Union, a member of the Wollaston Mother’s Club, a member of the Castle Island Assn., and a member of the Milton Council on Aging.  Kathryn loved spending time with her family and her dogs.  She loved traveling especially to the Caribbean islands and was always up for a new adventure.  She was full of sparkle and shine and truly was the heart of our family.   Funeral services are private.  In Loving memory of Kathryn donations can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
