Obituary


Joseph “Bud” Phillips of Milton, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023 at the age of 95. Born and raised in Boston to Margaret F. (Johnston) and Thomas F. Phillips, he attended school at St. Rita’s in Dorchester, St. Margaret’s and Boston Trade school. He worked as a Lithographer for over forty years at Wright Offset Co. in Cambridge, retiring in 1990. Joseph proudly served in the Navy during WWII. He was also the former president and was on the Board of Directors for the A. FL Teamsters Union and the Cunningham Kouples Club.


Joseph was the devoted husband of the late Marjorie M. (Sullivan). Loving father of Jeananne Phillips of Milton, the late Patricia A. Laffan, Maryanne Phillips, and Gerard Phillips. Beloved brother of the late Mary Wattendorf, Frances, Edward, Martin, Thomas and Robert Phillips. Joseph is survived by two grandchildren Maryanne Downey and Patrick Laffan, as well as his 7 great grandchildren.


Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass that will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Parish at 11:30am on Saturday March 11th. Visiting hours will be held before Mass at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave in Milton on Saturday March 11 from 10:00-11:00am. Burial to follow at Milton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth's Parish in Milton, or to the Milton Council on Aging.
