Obituary

Joseph M. Vasconcelos passed away suddenly on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 93.

Joe was born on May 11, 1929 to the late Jose M. and Cidalia (Azulay) Vasconcelos on the Island of Brava, Cape Verde. In 1962 Joe moved his family from Brava to Boston where they remained for several years before moving to Milton and later to Sharon.

Joe was a proud member of the AFL-CIO union at Eastern Steel Rack Co. in Dorchester for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Through the years, Joe enjoyed such things as playing music, tinkering with his car, and walking Castle Island. Most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Joe leaves behind his loving wife Aristea with whom he shared 65 wonderful years.

In addition to being a faithful and devoted husband to Aristea, Joe was the loving father of George and his wife Paula of Sharon, Ved and his wife Carolann of Milton and Joe and his wife Jean of Halifax. He was the cherished Papa to grandchildren Robert and his wife Samantha, Michael and his wife Samantha, Jennifer, Amanda, Justin and his wife Kelsey, Christopher, Joseph and Nolan and great grandchildren Mason and Evelyn. He was also the dear brother-in-law to Celeste. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, his brother Servulo and sister Luiza.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 - 10:00am on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue, Milton, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am at St. Agatha Parish, 432 Adams Street, Milton. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.
