John Shea Obituary

John P. Shea, age 90, of Milton passed away unexpectedly November 17th.  Born and raised in Lynn, he graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, and earned his BS from Boston University, and his MBA from Seton Hall University.  He was a proud Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

John started his professional career in Investment Management, with the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, in New Jersey. After several years in NJ, John decided to bring his young family back home to Massachusetts, and continued his work in Investment Management at the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he took on roles of increasing responsibility during a twenty-eight year career there, before retiring in 1997.

In retirement, John loved spending time with his family, traveling to NY and London with the love of his life, Rosemary, to see countless Broadway and West End shows, and for about 35 years, you could find John and Rosemary at Bella’s Restaurant on Friday evenings, and Caffe Bella’s on Saturday evenings, where they ultimately outlasted both establishments.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rosemary V. (Powers), his son Kenneth Shea and his wife Carolyn (Comeau) of Pound Ridge, NY, his son Mark V. Shea and his wife Jodi (Aron) of Chestnut Hill, and his daughter Lisa Shea of Milton.  John is also survived by his brother Thomas Shea and his wife Elaine of East Longmeadow, and by his four grandchildren, Isabella, Bridget, Kenneth & Jonathan.  John joins his loving parents in Heaven, Jeremiah and Catherine Shea, as well as his Father & Mother -in-law, Edward and Venetia Powers.
