John J. Kane, a loving, kind, and thoughtful man, passed away on May 10, 2026, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was the beloved son of the late Martin Kane and Bridgie (Barrett) Kane, and he was a devoted brother to Mary Kane of Milton, Ann Issner and her husband Eric of Milton, Sarah Heiskari and her husband John of Milton, Martin M. Kane Jr. and his wife Michelle of Wakefield, and Bernadette O'Sullivan and her husband Brendan of Kenmare Ireland. He was also a treasured uncle to Andrew Issner, Nicholas Kane, Alex Kane, Zack Kane, Emma Kane, Christopher O’Sullivan, Kieran O’Sullivan, Martin O’Sullivan, and Caitlin O'Sullivan, all of whom adored him deeply. In addition, he had many cousins here in Boston, Ireland and the UK.  His presence in the family was a source of warmth, laughter, and steady support, and he will be remembered with great love by all who knew him.

John was a proud graduate of Milton High School, and he carried the values of his upbringing with him throughout his life. He was a lifelong employee of the Boston Housing Authority, where he devoted over 37 years of faithful service. Through his work, he demonstrated reliability, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility. He was respected by those who knew him professionally for his steady nature and his quiet commitment to doing his job well.

Those who knew John best will remember him as a kind, selfless, goofy, gentle giant who lived simply and humbly. He had a warm spirit and a generous heart, and he brought comfort and joy to those around him. He loved his family and friends deeply, and his loyalty to them was unwavering, and he was particularly proud of his Irish heritage. His nieces and nephews especially held a special place in his heart, and they adored him in return. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to spend time with him.

John was also a devoted Boston sports fan, and he enjoyed following his teams with enthusiasm and pride. He especially loved going to the 99 Restaurant in Quincy, where he found comfort in familiar surroundings and good company. These simple pleasures reflected the way he lived his life, appreciating the everyday moments that brought happiness and connection. He found joy in routine, in family gatherings, and in the company of those he loved most.

His life was marked by goodness, humility, and devotion to others. He was the kind of person who put others before himself, and he did so without seeking recognition or praise. His loving nature, his kindness, and his thoughtfulness touched many lives, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was, a gentle and caring man whose presence made the world a better place.

John J. Kane will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
