Obituary
Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue in Milton, will be Monday, September 18, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The visitation will be followed by a graveside service at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy at 11:30 am.
John A. Homsy, age 93, of Boston, passed away September 14, 2023. Born in Dorchester, he was raised in Quincy. John attended Boston Latin and graduated from Dartmouth College. He taught classical piano in the Boston public schools from 1960 to 1980. In addition, he gave private classical piano lessons for several years, and taught and attended concerts at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Berklee School of Music. John also traveled extensively, playing the piano on cruise ships for several years.
Beloved son of the late Antoon and Wardeh (Najjar) Homsy, brother of the late Dimitri Homsy, Jamileh diGuida, Leilah Steiger, and Yvonne Homsy, uncle of Donna M. Goggin of S. Yarmouth, Jamileh-Sofia diGuida of Floral Park, NY, and Petah D. Steiger of Boston, great uncle to Bryan, Andrea, David, Jacob and Zachary, and beloved friend of Jose Chavarria of East Boston.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
