Joan F. Kennedy

Joan F. Kennedy (Foley) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 20, 2022. She was 86 years old.  She was born on August 9,1935 in Dorchester to Roger M. and Eleanor G. (Hardy) Foley.  Joan grew up in Milton, MA and attended St. Agatha School and Mount St. Joseph High School. She graduated Boston College School of Nursing in 1958 and worked as a Boston Public School nurse for many years.  She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family and friends

Joan was the wife of the late Norman J. Kennedy and the long-time companion of the late Peter F. O’Toole.  Joan was a single mother who raised three wonderful children when she was widowed in 1972.  She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Patrice of Nashua NH, her daughters Kathleen Kennedy of Braintree, MA and Ann Marie Doherty and her husband Jack of Hingham, MA.  Joan was a wonderful grandmother, ‘Mimi,’ to nine grandchildren: Kiera, Sean, Patrick, Stephanie, Nolan, Evan, Caroline, Brenna and Lauren. 

Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish (St. Elizabeth’s Church) 350 Reedsdale Rd, Milton Tuesday morning at 10:00 am.  Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Tuesday morning prior to the mass from 8:30 to 9:30 am.  Burial Milton Cemetery.
