Joan M. Aspessi, age 76, passed away on July 10, 2026, she was a loving, kind, and thoughtful woman whose life was marked by devotion to others and a deep affection for animals.

She was the beloved daughter of the late William C. and Gertrude M. (Gallagher) Aspessi. Throughout her life, Joan carried herself with quiet grace and a generous spirit, touching the lives of those around her with warmth, compassion, and sincerity. She was known by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her as someone who gave of herself freely and without hesitation.

Joan worked as a clerk for Nynex and retired in 1985. Retirement, however, did not slow her commitment to service. She devoted herself full time to volunteering at the MSPCA, where her love for animals found its fullest expression. Her dedication to animal welfare extended beyond that organization, as she was also a member of several animal welfare groups. Her compassion for creatures great and small was a defining part of who she was, and she gave her time and energy to causes that reflected her values and her tender heart.

In addition to her work with animals, Joan also volunteered at Carney Hospital, where her kindness and steady presence were appreciated by many. She approached every role with humility and care, always ready to help wherever she was needed. Her life was a testament to the power of simple goodness, and she will be remembered for the many ways she made a difference, both in her community and in the lives of those she served.

Throughout her life, Joan built many meaningful friendships and treasured the connections she made with others. She had many friends, and each one knew that her loyalty and care were sincere. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and understood. Her friends often found in her a source of encouragement and a reminder of what it means to love with patience and grace. Joan was a beautiful soul who taught many of her friends how to love unconditionally. She led by example through her kindness, her acceptance, and her ability to meet others with an open heart.

Among the many things that brought Joan joy was her deep affection for animals. She was looking forward to being reunited with all her pets at the Rainbow Bridge, a reflection of the special bond she shared with them throughout her life. Her love for her pets was sincere and enduring, and it spoke to the tenderness that defined so much of who she was. That love was one more expression of her gentle nature and her capacity for devotion.

She will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence leaves a profound emptiness, the legacy of her kindness and the example of her loving heart will endure. Joan M. Aspessi will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the love she gave so freely and the many lives she brightened along the way.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Church Milton on Friday July 17th at 10:00am. Burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
