Irene A. McGrath, 94, passed away on June 16, 2026, surrounded by the family who meant everything to her. 

 

Beloved daughter of Alfonzo and Italia (Giannassi) Falzone, Irene grew up in a close-knit family alongside her cherished sister, Anna. She later married Robert McGrath, and together they built a life centered on family, tradition, and time spent together. 

 

She was the loving mother of Anne Ingoldsby and her husband John of Milton, Christina Wiskow and her husband Randy of Mansfield, and Robert McGrath and his wife Jonelle of Franklin. She was a proud grandmother to Emily, Joseph, Jillian, Lauren, Abby, and Jack, and took great joy in being part of their everyday lives as well as their most important milestones. 

 

Irene valued staying connected to the people in her life. She kept close relationships with family and friends, she loved visiting, spending time together, and remaining involved.

 

Her friendships became especially important later in life, providing her with companionship and joy. She looked forward to time spent together; especially playing cards and games; and those friendships meant a great deal to her. 

 

She enjoyed reading, being socially active, and spending time with others. She loved to dance, brought energy to the time she shared with people, and was always impeccably put together, with a natural sense of style. 

 

For many years, Irene worked as an Executive Assistant at Northeast Investment Management. Earlier, she was a Teacher’s Aide in the Milton Public Schools. 

 

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her steadiness through life’s challenges, and the consistency with which she showed up for those she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the family she held so close. 

 

Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, on Tuesday, June 23 from 9:30–10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Agatha Parish, Milton, with burial at Milton Cemetery.
