Helen "Maureen" M. (Harnan) McCauley Obituary
Helen M. McCauley (Harnan), affectionately known to her friends and family as Maureen, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. Born in Medford, Massachusetts, to Owen Harnan (Co Tyrone, Ireland) and Helen (McSweeney) Harnan (Co Kerry, Ireland). Maureen was a long-time resident of Milton but also raised her family in West Roxbury and Wellesley. The void left by her departure is filled with memories of her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her family, faith and friends.
Maureen wore many hats throughout her career. She was a lunch mother, a Crossing Guard, and a CCD Teacher. She began her service with the Veterans Administration Hospital as a Medical Support Assistant and worked her way up the system to become Administrative Officer of Radiology for the Boston Veterans Medical Center.
Maureen's life was a testament to love and commitment. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J. McCauley (Oughterard, Co Galway, Ireland), with whom she shared countless cherished moments. A dedicated mother, she leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance in her children: Kevin P. McCauley and his wife Gemma of Franklin, John F. McCauley and his husband John Dobija of Jamaica Plain, Karen M. Doolan and her husband Timothy of Natick, Brian T. McCauley and his wife Katherine of England, and Steven F. McCauley and his wife Tinka of Weymouth. Maureen's siblings, the late Eugene Harnan and Cathleen Klee, held a special place in her heart, as she did in theirs.
Maureen's joy was multiplied tenfold by her ten grandchildren and deeply enriched by her three great-grandchildren. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, always eager to hear of their adventures and accomplishments. Her love and wisdom will continue to guide them through their lives.
A woman of faith, Maureen was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Church in Milton. Her commitment to her faith wasevident in her kindness and generosity, touching the lives of many within her community.
Traveling and exploring new places brought Maureen great joy, particularly her summers spent on Cape Cod and her retirement years in Largo, Florida. These moments allowed her to create lasting memories with her family, who were the center of her world. Spending time with her family, especially keeping up with the exploits and achievements of her grandchildren, was paramount in her life.
Maureen's life was one of purpose and pleasure, a balance that she maintained with grace and ease. Her absence is profoundly felt by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Maureen's memory will live on, not only through the lives of her family but also in the countless hearts she touched with her warmth and generosity. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the joy of living life to the fullest. Maureen will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her journey.
