Francis William Del Tufo, lovingly known as Frank, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on February 5, 2026, at the age of 83. Frank was born on July 30th, 1942 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Born and raised in Roxbury and eventually moved his family to Dorchester.
Frank was the son of the late Joseph Del Tufo and Mary (Domenica Rizzitano) Del Tufo. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Del Tufo and a deeply proud and loving father to 9 children.
Frank was predeceased by his children Francis Del Tufo Jr., Joseph Del Tufo, Edward Del Tufo, and Baby Boy Del Tufo. He is survived by his children Karen Del Tufo; Lee Del Tufo Cohen and her partner Cliff Sander; John Del Tufo, Marie Del Tufo, and Terry Del Tufo Rooney and her husband Leo Rooney.
In his final years Frank was lovingly cared for in his home by his daughter Marie Grace and his grandson Frankie. His family found comfort in knowing he was loved and supported every day.
Frank was a cherished grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson Corey Joseph Del Tufo and granddaughter Christi Lee Harris.
Frank was deeply loved by his seven sisters. Paula Kernan, Marie Foley, the late Josephine Arena, Rita Ambrose, Lucille Boyd, June LaTouf, and Eleanor Merlo.
Frank went to Roxbury Memorial High School and later attended the Massachusetts School of Barbering. He was the proud owner of Suffolk Scrap Metal, and Hair Go’s Hair Salon, businesses that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit.
Frank was a kind, strong, and humble man, who loved his family deeply.
He loved to cook, create art, collect antiques, and was a lifelong health enthusiast with a passion for holistic healing.
Frank was a devout Catholic, his faith was an important part of his life and values. Frank also had a deep love for animals and cherished his pets throughout his life. He often said that when he reached the pearly gates, he hoped there would be lots of puppies and kittens.
People who knew Frank best, will remember him for his generosity, his compassion, his nurturing ways, and the deep love he had for his family.
While having 8 children in a small home, Frank & Margie's door was always open to anyone who was in need of a place to sleep, a meal to eat and to anyone alone on a holiday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal rescue foundation in his memory.
Services will be private for the family.
