Elizabeth (Betty) Fitzgerald, age 91, of Mansfield, formerly of Braintree passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Born on February 1, 1934, in Quincy, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Johnson.
Betty was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth, and worked for many years as a legal secretary in Boston. Throughout her later life Betty enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and singing in the church choir at St. Agatha’s in Milton and St. Mary’s in Mansfield. She also devoted years of service to St. Vincent de Paul in Mansfield and My Brother’s Keeper in Easton, where she shared her time and talents as a seamstress.
Betty is survived by her daughter Kathleen Gibbons and her husband Francis of Seekonk, her daughter Maureen O’Loughlin and her husband Brian of Weymouth, her son William Fitzgerald and his wife Lori of Somerville, her son Michael Fitzgerald of Oceanside, CA, and her daughter Elizabeth Ferrari and her husband Michael of Mansfield. Betty is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Brian Fitzgerald.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church in Milton on Wednesday, April 16th at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s memory to My Brother’s Keeper, P.O. Box 338, Easton, MA 02356.
