Eleanor F. Ahearn (Vacca) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 18, 2026, at the age of 88. Eleanor was the heart of her family and beloved by all that knew her.

Eleanor, or Ellie as she was fondly known as, was born and raised in Everett, MA to the late Dewey and Madeline Vacca. She graduated from Everett High School in the Class of 1956. Her love for singing and performing earned her lead roles in the drama club. She went on to attend Boston State Teachers College. She married her husband, the late Daniel J. Ahearn Jr. from Milton in 1961. Together they would successfully own and operate a kennel of 42 greyhound dogs, racing them all over the country.  They eventually settled in Milton, MA and raised their loving family of seven children. Together, they instilled values of kindness, dedication, and hard work in their children: Attorney Robert D. Ahearn and his wife Theresa Ahearn of Buzzards Bay, Maureen McMahon and her husband Shawn McMahon of Kingston, Julie Cunningham and her husband Pat Cunningham of Pembroke, Carol Clark and her husband Chris Clark of York, Maine, and the late Nancy Ahearn, Paul Ahearn, and Kevin Ahearn.

Ellie’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to open and successfully run her own flower business, Flowers by Ellie, where her creativity and passion for beauty brought joy to many. Ellie's shop did prom flowers as well as wedding arrangements for many of the residents of Milton

Ellie's love for singing was surpassed only by her devotion to her family and her tireless involvement in her children's activities. In Milton, she was a leader in the community including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, St. Elizabeths Parish and Pop Warner cheerleading as well as serving as President of the Milton High Boosters Club.

Her commitment to her family extended to her siblings, including her loving sister, the late Patricia Conway and her brother Frank Vacca both of Malden.

Eleanor's presence was a gift to her 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom, her laughter, and her unwavering support. She was a constant in their lives, a guiding light through every milestone and challenge.

Ellie was also a beloved resident of Queen Anne’s Nursing Home in Hingham for the past ten years where she thrived and was loved by all.

As we bid farewell to Ellie Ahearn, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the simple beauty of a life dedicated to her family and to others. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave during her time with us.
