Passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022 with her family by her side. Devoted mother to Gail Sweeney of Braintree, Laura Sweeney of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, Nancy (Sweeney) and her husband James Spacco of Quincy, and Lee Sweeney of South Boston. Sister of Jean Fucillo of Dedham and her husband John, and the late Gordon Fitzgerald. Loving Grammy of James Jr., and Stefanie Spacco. Eileen is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Eileen's life was dedicated to the care and well-being of her special needs daughter Laura. In her younger days she worked at a candy factory and always referenced the I Love Lucy episode. She loved spending time with her family at her sister Jean and her husband John's cookouts. She was extremely grateful to them both for the help and support they provided for her over the years.
She loved her brother Buddy's jokes and their nightly conversations, she loved all her animals, walks to Broadway and socializing with her neighbors in South Boston.
She always looked forward to and loved spending time with the other mothers and volunteers from the South Boston Special kids and young adults’ program on Monday nights. She couldn't wait for their yearly big show that Laura preformed at, she loved being a Grammy and spending time with her 2 grandchildren.
While being at Hancock Park Rehab and Nursing facility she loved her weekly visits from her niece Karen. She was also very grateful for Laura's PCA Teresa who helps take great care of her.
She will forever be missed by her family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 13 from 9:00-11:00am at the Alfred D Thomas Funeral Home in Milton. Burial to follow at Blue Hills Cemetery.
