Welch, Edward F., age 90, of North Quincy and Dorchester, passed away peacefully August 25, 2019. Mr. Welch was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston College High School and was a member of the B.C. High Alumni Association. An Army Veteran of WW II, he served overseas at the close of the War. Mr. Welch retired from his position as a Housing Inspector for the City of Boston Inspectional Services, a position he held for many years. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was a former Inspector of the City of Quincy Health Department. He was a member of the John P. McKeon Post, Dorchester, as well as the D.A.V. of Quincy. An avid golfer, he was a member for many years of Presidents Golf Club.
Mr. Welch was the beloved husband of the late Margaret T. (McKinnon) and devoted father of Mark O. Welch and his wife Cathleen of Braintree, Julie P. Welch of Quincy, Edward Welch and his wife Patty of Dorchester, Mary Lou Maroney and her husband Vincent of Rockland, Cathy Pasquantonio of Milton and Pamela Welch Ruffo of Dorchester. Mr. Welch was predeceased by his sister, the late Barbara Murray of Quincy. He is also survived by 12 cherished grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4 to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Hancock Street, North Quincy on Thursday morning, August 29, 2019 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
