Edmund Patrick Wyse, 94, of Hingham, Dennis, Milton, Hyde Park and Dorchester passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 21, 2022. Ebby was born on June 17, 1927 in Boston. He grew up in St. Margaret’s Parish, Dorchester. He enjoyed seventy years of marriage to his beloved wife Mary (Keane) Wyse. Son of the late Timothy and Brigid (O’Neill) Wyse, he was the loving father of the late Timothy Wyse and his wife Miriam formerly of Newton, Joseph Wyse of Centerville, the late Maureen and her late husband Joe Sullivan, Deirdre and her husband Steven Ginns, Brigid and her husband Gerard Casey all of Hingham, Erin and her husband John Duggan of Duxbury and Colleen and her husband Bill Chave of Milton. Beloved Papa who adored his 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Loving brother of the late James Wyse of Yarmouthport, Catherine Macheras, Margaret McCarthy and the late Josephine Megnia all of Quincy and Mary McGann of Randolph.
Ebby graduated from South Boston High School and then honorably served in the Navy in World War II. Postwar, he continued his studies at Boston College before beginning a 44 year career with Boston Edison. He loved sports, having played for Pat Lynch Club park league football team, coached his son Tim’s youth hockey teams and later in life became an avid golfer. He treasured his trips back to Ireland throughout his life. He enjoyed telling stories and singing “ditties” as well as playing Irish music on the piano and accordion. He was a passionate, lifelong student of Irish History. In recent years, Ebby enjoyed outings with his aid Sheila O’Connor, especially drives past 267 East Cottage St., Castle Island other Boston neighborhoods. Ebby was a man of deep Catholic faith, a man who loved his country as well as the land of his Irish clan. The source of his greatest joy was his role as husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha’s Church, Milton, Wednesday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Tuesday, 4 to 7 PM.
Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
