Donna Marie Cormican, passed away on December 6, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess in Winchester, at the age of 72. Born on February 15, 1952, to the late Joseph C. Cormican and Helen R. (Rogers) Cormican, Donna's life was a testament to her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature. She was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.
Donna grew up surrounded by the love and companionship of her siblings, Joseph Cormican and his wife Denise of Millis, Helen Fredholm and her husband Richard of Braintree, Cathy Cormican of Dorchester, Jimmy Cormican and his wife Patricia of Milford, Bobby and his late wife Christine of Lowell, the late Paul Cormican, and Michael Cormican. Donna's life was further enriched by the many nieces and nephews who were a significant part of her life, especially her nephew Jonathan Keene.
She attended Dorchester High School, Donna's early education laid the foundation for her strong work ethic and dedication to community service. Her career began at Filene's Basement, where she dedicated over two decades of service until its closing. Donna's resilience and adaptability shone through as she transitioned into waitressing, a job she initially took to make ends meet but grew to love. She became a familiar and beloved face at Darcy's Village Pub in Quincy and Sonny's in Dorchester, where she served her customers with warmth and grace.
Donna's interests extended beyond her professional life into heartfelt volunteer work with the Dorchester Special Athletes. Her selflessness was evident in her commitment to this organization, where she gave her time and energy to support athletes with special needs. Donna's generosity knew no bounds; she gave so much to others, even when she had little to spare herself.
Those who knew Donna will remember her for the love she freely gave and the thoughtful gestures that brightened the lives of those around her. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued, and her absence will be profoundly felt by her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
As we say goodbye to Donna Marie Cormican, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by those who loved her and in the countless acts of kindness she bestowed upon her community. Donna's spirit, characterized by love and thoughtfulness, will endure as a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton on Wednesday December 18th from 3:00-7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Church Dorchester on Thursday December 19th at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
