Dennis P. Egan

Dennis P. Egan, of Abington, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2025. Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, he was a proud graduate of Dorchester High School.

A member of a large Irish family, Dennis was one of thirteen children of the late Mary Ann and Thomas F. Egan. He is survived by his siblings: Maureen Spencer and Jack Daly of Halifax, Dorothy Egan of Palm Beach, FL, Thomas F. Egan Jr. and his wife Paula of Dorchester, Timothy G. Egan and Joan Howell of Braintree, Kevin C. Egan and his wife Sophia of Readville, Patrice Lewis and her husband Thomas of Rockland, Paula Connolly and her husband Stephen of Braintree, Michael Egan and his wife Maria of Abington, and Joseph Egan and his wife Norma of Somerville.

He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Anne Saccone, survived by her husband David of Clearwater, FL, Sean D. Egan, survived by his wife Mabel of Topsham, ME and Mark S. Egan survived by his partner Charlene Deal of Rockland, MA. 

For many years, Dennis drove for Uber and provided transportation for special needs children—work that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He was a devoted father to his daughter Lauren and a loving grandfather to her children, Lily and Bo, often making trips to Maine to spend time with them.

Dennis was also a beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He shared a particularly special bond with his late brother Mark’s daughters, Hanna and Molly, stepping in after Mark’s passing to provide support, stability, and love—driving them to swim, showing up for them, and ensuring they remained deeply connected to the family.

A cherished presence at every family gathering, Dennis was someone everyone looked forward to seeing. His infectious laugh and joyful spirit left behind memories that bring smiles and chuckles even now.

He maintained a strong, lifelong bond with his childhood friends from the Shawmut section of Dorchester, a testament to how deeply he was loved and respected.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
