David L. Burns, of Plymouth, MA, passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2024. Born in Cambridge, MA, Dave moved to Milton, MA, during his childhood and eventually settled there, raising his family in the house he grew up in.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia (Fitz) Burns. Dave and Pat were childhood sweethearts, having met at the tender age of 15, and they shared an incredible 57 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dave leaves behind their four children: Michelle Flynn and her husband Tim of Duxbury, MA; I Patricia Ferretti and her husband Bill of Raynham, MA; David Burns and his wife Nicole of Abington, MA; and Timothy Burns and his wife Katie of Quincy, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Jack, Patrick, and Sam Flynn; Zachary and Liam Ferretti; Declan and Sydney Burns; and Sean, Emily, and Maggie Burns.
Predeceased by his beloved father, David F. Burns, and his sister, Margaret Silvestri, Dave shared a close bond with them throughout his life. He cherished the times spent with his father and sister, who were a significant part of his life. Margaret's daughter, Julie Silvestri, Dave's niece, held a special place in his heart, continuing the family legacy of love and connection.
Dave leaves behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and joy. A graduate of Milton High School, Dave served honorably in the United States Air Force. He then embarked on a long and successful career with Verizon, where he worked for over 35 years and was known for his exceptional work ethic.
In retirement, Dave and Pat embraced their love for travel, exploring the US on a cross-country trip, cruising through Alaska, and visiting the scenic landscapes of Scotland. Dave was also an avid golfer, frequently participating in and winning local tournaments.
Dave was a man full of life, known for his infectious laugh and his striking deep blue eyes. He cherished every moment spent with his family and grandchildren, always bringing joy and warmth to those around him.
David L. Burns will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Visiting hours will be at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home (326 Granite Ave, Milton) on Wednesday, July 3rd from 8:30 to 10:00 am. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agatha Church in Milton on Wednesday, July 3rd, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery.
