Darlene Rolfs, affectionately known as “Nama” to many, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away at home peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 28, 1944, to the late Hugh McNally and Helen (McCue), Darlene's life was a tapestry of family, service, and joy that she wove with thoughtful care and affection.
Darlene's journey through life was shared with her beloved late husband, Walter Rolfs, who passed away in 1983. From then on Darlene nurtured a family that included their cherished children, Darlene D. Rolfs and her fiancé Stephen Sciaraffa of Milton, and Walter Rolfs and his wife Melissa of Rockland. She was the proud grandmother to Brittany Rolfs, Jayda Sylvestre, Stephen Rolfs, Sean Sollis, Elizabeth Rolfs, and Lola Sollis, who will carry forward her legacy of love.
Her siblings, JoAnn Woodford and her husband William of Norton, and Catherine Amerault and her husband Thomas of Brockton, fondly remember Darlene's laughter during their card games and the warmth she brought to family gatherings. She was predeceased by her siblings Sandra Raphel, Marion McNally, Maureen LaPlaca, Brian McNally, and Robert McNally but is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
Darlene worked as a loan officer for Alpha Credit Union in Tufts Medical Center for over 50 years until she retired about 11 years ago.
A woman of many talents and interests, Darlene was a fixture at bingo nights at St. Agatha in Milton and St. Joes in Holbrook. Her creativity shone through in her skilled seamstress work, where she crafted beautiful wedding dresses that became treasured family heirlooms. Her craftiness extended beyond the sewing table; she loved to engage in various projects, always bringing her unique touch to each creation.
Darlene always had a love for her cats and dogs. She enjoyed sharing whatever she was snacking on with “Mika” the family boxer. Her front porch was a place of solace and observation, where she could be found enjoying the weather and the simple pleasure of people-watching. It was on this very porch that many would feel the warmth of her greeting and the depth of her interest in their lives.
Described by those who knew her as loving, creative, and thoughtful, Darlene lived a life that was rich in experiences and abundant in the love she gave and received. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of everyone who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
Darlene will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a mother to many and a friend to all. Her life was a testament to the beauty of caring for others, and her memory will be cherished as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many.
