Daniel "Dan" T. Ryan

Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, Milton on Saturday, October 7 at 10:30 a.m.  Visiting hours Saturday, October 7th in morning prior to the funeral mass from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave, Milton.  Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Agatha Church.

Daniel T. "Dan" Ryan, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2023. Dan was known for his hardworking nature, his love for his family, and his passion for golf and Boston sports.

Dan celebrated 60 years of marriage to Maureen Ryan (Maloney) earlier this year. He was the dedicated father to Daniel T. Ryan and his wife Sharon, Karen A. Ryan, Stephen M. Ryan and his wife Sharon, all of Milton, Joanne R. Conroy and her husband Stephen of West Roxbury, and the late Kevin J. Ryan. He was the very proud grandfather to Daniel Ryan and Matthew Ryan and Lilah and Olivia Conroy. He was also the brother of the late Paul Ryan of Plymouth.

Dan was born in Boston to Timothy and Julia (Kelliher) Ryan both originally from County Cork, Ireland. His father fought in World War II and lost his life in 1945 in France. He grew up in Dorchester and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Dan graduated from Cathedral High School and later attended Northeastern University. He pursued a successful career as an engineer with Chas. T. Main, Parsons Corporation, and Stone & Webster in Boston. When not working and in retirement, Dan was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Presidents Golf Club in Quincy. He spent winters in Lake Worth, Florida enjoying the warm weather, daily walks and more golf. He loved watching and cheering on the Boston sports teams. He was a proud, long time member of the Yaz League, a men’s senior softball league in Milton. However, his most treasured moments were spent attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events. His presence at games was a constant source of encouragement and love.
