Charles Melendy, Jr. Obituary

Charles A. Melendy, Jr. of Milton passed away August 20th at Season’s Hospice in Milton. Born and raised in Medford, Chuck graduated from Medford High School and Northeastern University. A mischievous and caring man, Chuck became the head of the household early on and never hesitated to go the extra mile for his family and friends. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a medic in Berlin, Germany, where he delivered babies in the maternity ward. Chuck drove for 7 Up and worked as a sales representative in the paper goods industry for Marcal Paper and Paperama, where he was a regional sales manager. Chuck later became a salesman at the Christmas Tree Shop in Avon before retiring. He worked tirelessly through his own illnesses as a caregiver for his wife, Carolyn, for the last ten years. He enjoyed a cold beer, golfing, barbecues, a good book, and playing the numbers. Chuck and Carolyn were big dancers at weddings and became an example of enduring love.

Beloved husband for 53 years of the late Carolyn D. (Mattaliano).  Father of Kristen Melendy of Quincy.  Grandfather of Ryann and Devin Melendy both of Quincy.  Brother of Carol Ann LaVita of Milton and Robert J. Melendy and his wife Julie of Beaumont, CA.  Uncle of Mike LaVita and his wife Carolyn of Milton, Anthony LaVita and his wife Lauren of Kansas City, MO, and David Melendy of Concord, NH.  A private graveside service will be held at Milton Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Disabled American Veterans organization in honor of Chuck.
