Catherine M. Smolinski age 92, of Dorchester passed away suddenly at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton on February 6, 2025.
Born in South Boston on January 28, 1933, she was the loving daughter of the late Florindo “Barney” and Catherine (Anderson) Dellascio.
Catherine grew up in South Boston and resided in Dorchester for the last 47 years. Before her retirement, she was a long-time employee in the Accounting Department at the Stop & Shop Corporate Offices located in Quincy, MA.
Her favorite time was spending it with her grandson, Ryan. She had many fond memories of the time they spent together at many family get togethers. She also loved taking long walks at Castle Island with her husband, Henry. Always stopping at Sullivan’s at the island for an ice cream.
She was the beloved wife of the late Henry J. Smolinski. She was also the devoted mother of her daughter, Rosemary C. Sullivan and her husband James F. Sullivan of Dorchester, son, John H. Smolinski and his wife Kathleen M. Smolinski of Mansfield. Loving grandmother of Ryan J. Smolinski of Mansfield. Catherine was also the sister of the late John Dellascio and Peter Dellascio who is survived by his wife Joan Dellascio of Woburn.
Her role as a grandmother to Ryan filled her with immense pride and joy. The bond she shared with Ryan was a source of endless happiness and cherished.
She also loved planting flowers in her backyard garden. She had a flair for decorating her apartment to perfection. She loved Christmas and every room in her house turned magical during that time of the year.
She also loved spending joyous occasions with her family in Mansfield. Kicking off every summer with a lobster feast and attending plenty of barbecues, that were always full of fun, food, laughter, dancing and great times.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a kind, generous, loving lady.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 18 at 10:00 AM at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral 326 Granite Ave Milton. Visiting hours will continue to 11:30 AM. Interment immediately after at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, MA.
